Continung Education Curses - ProTech Skills Institute
May 02, 2023

The Electrical Training Alliance of Gainesville (GEJATC) is devoted to constantly improving our training and our goal is to keep our IBEW members trained to be the best in the industry.  The JATC offers online courses for all IBEW members; Journeyworkers, Apprentices, Construction Electricians and Construction Wireman.  These courses are Continuing Education Courses (CET) that utilize an online approach. You will need a computer running a full version of Windows with a browser and internet connection.  Many of the courses require a textbook that is provided in the registration.  To register for a course, contact the JATC at 352-376-8375 or Click Here and in the top menu and select “Learning Center”; select “Blended Learning” in the left menu (it will likely be preselected); hit the “Launch” button on the right, and finally select “Register” on the login screen. Next, choose FL0480 - Gainesville Electrical JATC under the training location window. The Access Request Password to register is IBEW-NECA and then follow the instructions.  The JATC will verify your membership with the Local Union before your registration request is approved.

Online CET Courses

Continuing Electrical Training (CET) courses are designed to be an introduction of the topic, along with updated content for the experienced electrical worker.  CET courses cover electrical theory, up to date concepts, and installation practices for both electrical construction and maintenance.  These courses cover all of the subject chapters in a full size textbook.  These courses include an associated textbook that contains color illustrations and photographs along with detailed current topic information.

The length of time for the courses vary.  Some courses require a periodical face-to-face classroom & lab sessions (contact the JATC for details).  These are not survey level courses, but full length deliverable courses, therefore plan to schedule a significant amount of hours to complete the course successfully.  The courses can also be delivered as a self-study course only for distance learning purposes…again, contact the JATC for details.  In either approach, the on-line PTSI (ProTech Skills Institute) maintains all the scores and activity of the learner for the JATC instructor to monitor and provide assistance.
